With this post I start the blog of the website My House in Croatia – a Polish real estate agency in Croatia!
Although this is a blog, first a few words about how it happened. Thanks to what I did in previous years, I was able to afford to realize one of my dreams – in 2021 I moved with my wife and children to Croatia. At first with the assumption that we would live in two countries, but quite quickly it turned out that it was not so easy. Already at the end of 2022 we decided to settle permanently in Croatia.
From the beginning, I verified the real estate market and wanted to learn the business step by step. Initially, we thought to start with cleaning holiday properties. The very first clients said that they were not interested in cleaning alone, but in full management of vacation properties! At first I agreed, then it turned out that this is a licensed activity in Croatia. So I set up a company, hired people with the appropriate licenses and we got started.
The business was growing very nicely, but I knew from the beginning that the next step would be brokering and flipping – preparing ready-made investment products. And here again, our clients say this is what they want, this is what they need from us. From the first advertisement for the first 20 management applications, 18 said they would give me a property to manage, but first I have to help them buy it!
It turned out that the profession of realtor and the activities of real estate agency in Croatia are also licensed. So more cooperation, insurance, fulfillment of conditions and here it is – a legally operating real estate brokerage in Croatia.
I learned a lot during this time, I also saw a lot of pathology. I see super profitable properties, I also see how people have sunk money thinking they were making a super deal. Much of the mistakes and blunders were due to ignorance and sheer ignorance, some part to trusting incompetent people. That’s why I knew that from the beginning I wanted to operate in a positive atmosphere and help make dreams come true, achieve goals, but in a responsible and professional way, working with licensed realtors, law firms and so on.
Moving seamlessly from brokerage to blog – it is on this blog that my team and I will share our knowledge and experience about how to buy a property, how to prepare for it – both soft skills and legal and tax aspects. Living permanently in Croatia, we will write about life here. We also plan to interview property owners in Croatia, asking about their experiences. There will probably also be some news from company life.
